Drum Circles for Young People

Imagine an interactive circle of kids, all drumming together, holding a common pulse and weaving a facilitated rhythm into a cohesive musical experience. This is what will occur with your group.

All sessions include an informative lesson on the history of the drum, its origins and cultural significance. We will learn the many sounds the drum can make, as well as proper playing techniques. We will sing together, play traditional rhythms, and learn to “talk” to each other on the drum.

You can expect laughter, learning, and an increased mutual respect between teachers, students and their peers.

By the end of the session, all participants will be smiling, making up their own rhythms, and celebrating their success as individuals, a group, and as a community.

This experience can foster a musical foundation and sense of self worth to build on for the rest of their lives.

"Spirit Day" at Golda Meir Kent Center

Anybody, regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, life experience, musical aptitude or preference is in for an exciting and moving experience with Steve and his drums. As the director of a day camp of school age children in Clearwater, I can tell you what a wonderful experience Steve's Drum Circles are. He had the complete attention and appreciation of all 130 of my campers and staff yesterday as Steve helped us celebrated our "Spirit Day" with an absolutely energized drum circle. This was Steves fourth performance at the Golda Meir Kent Center and they keep getting more thrilling and creative each time Steve does his thing and proclaims, "Drumming Is Easy!!!!!!" Steve got plenty of hugs and high fives before and after the event. He is truly unique and inspirational, but most importantly, everyone who participates in one of his drum circles smiles ear to ear throughout the experience. His passion and rhythm are contagious. For those of you who already know what I'm talking about, I know that you're smiling and nodding in agreement as you read this. For those of you who have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Steve and participating in one of his drum circles, all I can say is,"What are you waiting for??"

Tyrone Elementary

On behalf of all of us involved...and all the spectators who couldn't help but be drawn to the event, we loved Steve. His energy, talent, knowledge and interaction with the children was perfect. He had everyone, including teachers and parents singing, dancing and playing an instrument. We will definitely be inviting him back again next year.

Steve Turner was able to bring our whole school into an experience of harmony and oneness through the magic of his drums and the unified beat he called forth from our one soul. The children, second grade through fifth grade, loved it, as did the adult faculty and staff. I have never felt our school come together so completely as we did during this assembly! He was able to bring forth from within us an experience of unity and synergy that we have only talked about before!

Steve,

I wanted to thank you for your program this morning at the North Greenwood Library. We had 106 kids attend and every single one of them left with a smile and a hop in their step. Thanks also for having an instrument for everyone. Your program was truly amazing.
